Bangladesh anticipating record
Striking performance of Ahmed Shehzad, Mohammad Hafiz and Shahid Afridi brought 201 runs for Pakistan. Bangladesh has to build a record to win with Pakistan.
The maximum winning run for Bangladesh in T20 match is 166 runs. That match was against Zimbabwe earlier this year where Bangladesh won by 4 wickets. Before that, Bangladesh managed 190 runs against Ireland in 2012.
Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat. Taskin and Al-Amin gave Pakistan 25 runs in the first two overs. Mashrafi’s decision to bring a spinner in the third over showed some progress. Arafat Sunny sent Sharjeel Khan off the field by bold out. But Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafiz partnership took Pakistan to a strong position.
Shehzad took 52 runs from 39 balls. His stricken ball got caught in the hands of Mahmudullah at midwicket. Sabbir took the wicket. At the third wicket, Hafiz and Afridi formed a disastrous partnership and collected 42 runs from 17 balls. Hafiz was caught out at the 17th over from Sunny’s bowling. Hafiz managed 64 runs from 42 balls. Afridi was out at the last over after hitting four 6s and four 4s. He took 49 runs from 19 balls.
