Bangladesh conceded a 3-wicket defeat against Australia
Bangladesh national cricket team conceded a 3-wicket defeat against cricket power Australia in their second match of Super Ten round of World T20 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore Monday night.
Tigers failed to pick up early wickets of the Aussies as they played without their main bowling strength, they also missed Tamim Iqbal, the regular opener as well.
Bangladesh got first breakthrough in eighth over of the Australian innings when Watson run-out due to sloppy running between the wickets. He scored 21 from 15 with two fours and a six before his disposal. At that time the first wicket stand at 61.The new ball was coming on nicely on to the bat under the lights at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Bangladesh got their second breakthrough after a breezy 33-run partnership between Aussie captain Smith and Khwaja in the 12th over.
Mustafizur deceived Smith, as the batter was expecting a short of length cutter but the left-arm pacer delivered a swinging yorker. Smith fell for 14.
Usman Khwaja who was the mainstay in Australia’s innings, and reached his first T20I half century in this match, returned to pavilion by the Bangladesh pacer Al Amin Hossain.
He was the third wicket fall for Aussies side and Bangladesh got third wicket in the 14th over. But he took Australia on 115 at that time.
Khwaja scored 58 from 45 with seven fours and a beautiful six over long-off. Shakib Al Hasan got his first wicket in the 15th over, and gave Bangladesh side some hope of defending 156 by removing the dangerous David Warner.
Warner was going great guns, smashed 17 from nine balls before he gave Shakib a return catch off a full toss on leg. Aussies lost their fourth batsman at the score of 119 on board.
Mustafizur struck again and picked up his second wicket giving Tigers fans something to cheer about in the 17th over. His off-cutter bamboozled Marsh and the Aussie batsman was caught out for six runs. The leading edge from Marsh was taken safely by Shakib running back.
Shakib Al Hasan sent back GJ Maxwell as fifth wicket fall of Australian lineup in 18th over but Aussies neared at the brink of the target at that moment. Australia’s score stood 148 for 6.
Maxwell smashed 26 off 15 with two fours and two sixes. Shakib struck for the third time and picked up Hastings’s wicket in 18th over. Hastings returned for 3 off 4 at the stage of 152 for 7.
Bangladesh batsmen managed to total a moderate score of 156 run against mighty Australia in their comeback match in World T20’s Super Ten round at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore Monday evening.Mahmudullah powered an unbeaten 49 off 29 with hitting seven boundaries and one over boundary that lead Bangladesh to this total.Mahmudullah made two reasonable partnerships of 27 and 51, first with Shakib and secondly with Mushfiqur Rahim.Mushfiqur Rahim Join Mahmudullah after dismissal of Shakib who was returned to pavilion after scoring 33 off 25 hitting three boundaries one over boundary.
Shakib made room and played Zampa’s wider delivery with a little bit of extra bounce, made the top edge appear and short third man Coulter-Nile takes care of the rest.
Newly joined Shuvagata Hom was the second victim of Zampa in his three-wicket haul. Hom was trapped in LBW by Zampa sneaking in the faster delivery on a shortish length. Hom went on the back foot for the pull but failed. Bnagladesh had a big blow in the second over of the innings against Australia as opener Soumya Sarkar caught out at point in Watson’s ball just for 2 run on the score board.
Later, Sabbir Rahman returned to the pavilion just after begin to charge Aussie bowlers. Before his dismissal in sixth over he batted 12 off 16 with two boundary-shot.Watson to Sabbir Rahman, OUT, one hoick too many and Watto, returning to the attack, strikes again. Not the cleverest cricket from Sabbir.Sabbir ran down the track to play Watson but the bowler refused him the room to free the arms.Sabbir hit the ball too high on the bat, got very little power behind it, and was caught smartly by a diving Faulkner at mid-on, second prey of Watson.
Later, Zampa picked up Mohammad Mithun’s wicket in 10th over. Mithun was taking charge to gear up score board. Mithun nailed Zampa’s leg spin but he was picked out the fielder at deep midwicket. He batted 23 off 21 with one four and one six before his dismissal.
Mohammad Mithun who replaced Tamim Iqbal due to his illness, open for Bangladesh along with Soumya Sarkar. Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Bin Mortaza has been asked to bat first by the Australia captain SPD Smith after losing the toss in their second match of the Super Ten round of World T20 mission.
Bangladesh will bat without their regular opener Tamim Iqbal, it is very much unfortunate for them as the lost pacer Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny earlier for ICC ban. IJ Gould and RA Kettleborough will conduct the match as assigned umpires while Aleem Dar will discharge his duty as TV umpire. BC Broad is assigned as match referee.
