Siddikur finishes second in Mauritius Open
Bangladeshi golfer Siddikur Rahman narrowly missed out to clinch his first European Tour victory concluding 2nd in the €1 million Mauritius Open, finishing one shot behind the champion Korean golfer Jeunghun Wang.
Siddikur finished on five-under-par (283) while J Wang six-under-par (282) after the 4th and final round at Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius on Sunday.
Estanislao Goya of Argentina and Nicolas Colsaerts of Belgium shared the 3rd slot scoring even-par (288) each.
The two-time Asian Tour winner had led his South Korean counterpart Jeunghun Wang up to the 15th hole, but a double bogey followed by a bogey on the next two holes saw the two get level ahead of the 18th and final hole.
Siddikur started the final round as the leader on seven-under-par (209), but traded three birdies against three bogies and one double bogey in the 4th round that led him five-under-par (283).
In the 4th round, Siddikur scored two-over-par (74). He birdied in the 5th, 6th and 13th holes and played dismal bogies to put the 3rd, 12th and 17th holes while took three shots more than par in the 16th hole for a worse double bogey.
J Wang traded three birdies against three bogies in the final round for even par (72) as well as to leapfrog Siddikur.
Siddikur first emerged champion in Brunei Open in 2010 and in Hero Indian Open 2013 of the Asian Tour event.
