Shakib available for Test series
Bangladesh heaved a sigh of relief as Shakib Al Hasan is available for the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies after being cleared in the scan following his groin injury.
Shakib had a scan on Thursday for the groin injury that he received during the last game of the three-match ODI series on January 25.
“His scan report is absolutely fine and there is no tear in it. He is expected to be available in the Test series unless there is anymore complication after he resumes practising,” BCB physician Manzur Hossain told reporters.
“We are hopeful that he will resume his practice very soon,” he added.
Shakib collapsed almost immediately in the follow-through after delivering the penultimate ball of his fifth over and was seen grimacing in a lot of pain that suggested he was having some trouble in the groin.
Shakib played an instrumental role behind Tigers’ success in the ODI series that saw the resumption of international cricket in Bangladesh after a gap of 10 months.
Coincidently, Shakib also returned to international cricket after a gap of over one year due to the ICC ban that was imposed on him October 29, 2019, for failing to report corrupt approaches.
Shakib brushed aside all the doubts with scintillating all-round performance, 113 runs and six wickets, in the ODI series that earned him player-of-the-series award.
However, his receiving the groin injury in the last game raised doubts over his participation in the Test series.
