Kings to file complaint against BFF with Court of Arbitration for Sport
The country’s leading football club – Bashundhara Kings are all set to complaint against the Bangladesh Football Federation’s autocratic decisions with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), a top official of the club informed The Daily Sun on Saturday.
Kings earlier decided to take legal actions against the federation over the venue snub and to lodge complaints to the higher governing body of world football FIFA and the higher governing body of Asian football AFC.
“We have earlier said that we will go to FIFA, AFC to file accusations over venue snub. Now, we will also seek assistance from the Court of Arbitration for Sport against BFF’s such decisions,” he said.Kings will raise three points to the Court of Arbitration for Sport in their self-defence -- the players’ NOC issues during the transfer window, Independence Cup and Federation Cup’s fixtures, format, venue issues including venue cancellation before the BPL.
“We will place three points there -- the players’ NOC, fixtures and formats of Independence Cup and Federation Cup. We will also bring allegations about BPL venue cancellation illegally. All players were needed to submit their NOCs from the previous club for a transfer. But the players of a particular club didn’t maintain that. BFF changed the bylaws on the last day of the window for that particular club,” the Kings’ official said.
“We have several objections on Independence Cup and Federation Cup fixtures, formats and venues. The BFF suddenly changed the format of the Independence Cup without any meeting with the executive committee and league committee. We will also make complaints to the court about venue cancellation. We faced heavy financial losses after taking such a decision regarding the venue snub. I think the federation’s way of taking the decision was illegal,” he added.
Kings and several other clubs had to withdraw their participation from Federation Cup in protest against the BFF’s unethical fixture format and venue.
Kings’ home venue Bashundhara Sports Complex was expected to become the country’s first club venue to host their Bangladesh Premier League matches this season after the BFF gave a green signal to the venue last week.
Later, the Kings' authority also gave permission to Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra to play their home matches at the same venue and they took all the preparations to host the opening match between Kings and Swadhinata Krira Sangha on Thursday. However, only two days before the tournament got underway, the BFF axed the venue from the hosts’ list and decided to reschedule the matches at two venues in Tongi and Munshiganj.
The decision came as a big shock to Kings, which spent a huge sum of money to renovate the venue in the quickest possible time to host the BPL matches and now they suffered heavy financial losses due to the BFF’s autocracy.
It’s understood that the BFF could receive severe punishment if FIFA, AFC and the Court of Arbitration for Sport found truth in the matter.
