Twitter begins testing shopping features on brand profile pages

Twitter will start showing businesses selling products at the top of their profile page, the social networking company said Wednesday, as it seeks to capture a share of the lucrative online shopping world.
The San Francisco-based company is following in the footsteps of big competitor Facebook , which last year launched a “shop” feature to allow consumers to buy products directly via Facebook and Instagram .
Twitter says it will begin testing the new shopping feature in the United States with "a handful of brands."
Users can scroll through a carousel of products at the top of the brand's profile. The customer can tap on a product, and then pay through the retailer’s website.
This test is a new attempt to offer shopping on Twitter. The company has previously tested the "Buy Now" button and product page in 2015.
