Two Major Countries have Now Banned American Citizens Because of Bigot Trump
Donald Trump’s Muslim Ban has pissed off the world. As a result of the bigoted executive order he signed on Friday, American citizens are now banned from two major countries. Thanks, Trump.
Following Trump’s decision to ban anyone who is a citizen of Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lybia, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen from coming to the U.S. for 90 days, both Iraq and Iran have reacted with bans of their own.
Iraq has announced that no American citizens will be permitted entry into Iraq for a period of 90 days and citizens who hold existing visas are barred from entry as well. Iraq said that when the U.S. lifts its ban, they lift theirs.
Iran has also enacted a ban on Americans entering their country as “retaliation” for Trump’s Muslim ban. A statement from Tehran’s foreign ministry said the policy would stay in place “until the offensive US limitations against Iranian nationals are lifted.” The statement said Trump’s order was an “affront against the Muslim world” and added that his bigoted ban would be “great gift to extremists.”
While respecting the American people and distinguishing between them and the hostile policies of the U.S. government, Iran will implement the principle of reciprocity until the offensive U.S. limitations against Iranian nationals are lifted.
The restrictions against travel by Muslims to America are an open affront against the Muslim world and the Iranian nation in particular and will be known as a great gift to extremists.
The United Nations and the International Organisation for Migration have both denounced Trump’s executive order and urged him to continue accepting these people desperately fleeing the horrors of war into the United States.
“The needs of refugees and migrants worldwide have never been greater and the US resettlement program is one of the most important in the world,” the two agencies said in a joint statement.
As a reminder, Trump has only been in office for one week. One. F*cking. Week. Just look at what he has done in that small amount of time. With four years to go, we are in for one heck of a long fight. We must continue to resist.
