Earthquake measuring 3.7 strikes Ladakh

An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter scale hit Ladakh on Thursday morning.

According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake struck the Union Territory at 7:39 am.

The depth of the earthquake was recorded to be 200 kilometres.

The earthquake in Ladakh comes six days after a high-intensity earthquake hit Tajikistan on Friday night, tremors of which were felt in Delhi-NCR and several other parts of north India.

According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the magnitude of the quake was 6.3.

The tremors created panic among people who rushed out of their homes. However, there were no immediate reports of any loss of life or damage to property.

At least four other states, Bihar, Himachal, Assam and Uttar Pradesh have felt minor earthquakes since.
