New Glades Road interchange on I-95 opens Monday
Starting Monday morning, a new highway interchange will be open in the Boca Raton area. It is expected to change the way you get on and off the interstate and hopefully ease some traffic congestion.
The Interchange will allow both directions of traffic to cross to cross to the opposite side of the road, allowing for a smoother, safer, and more streamlined flow of traffic.

Matt Carlock a construction engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation said, "the benefit also is that we have a two-signal phase approach where you will be able to have multiple movements at the same time while the main line on Glades is moving."
The Diverging Diamond Interchange will open at S.R. 808/Glades Road and S.R. 9/I-95 with three lanes in each direction. Eventually, a fourth lane will be added.
In addition, there will also be two 7-foot bike lanes will be open for cyclists in each direction.
Residents in the area say they are excited for the new traffic pattern.
Paul Mazzilli says the traffic in the area is a nightmare near Glades Road.
"Coffee lights I call them you can go out for a cup of coffee and come back," said Mazzilli "It's definitely a problem sometimes you wait for a light, and then it changes, and then you have to wait for it again."
According to the Florida Department of Transportation, law enforcement will be on site every day from 11 p.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. for the first two weeks to make sure ensure drivers are following the new traffic pattern.
The construction project has been more than a year in the making.
